Introduction

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our growing interdisciplinary data team, where you will be responsible for building deployable statistical/machine learning models, starting from the discovery phase through to delivery & optimization. Ideally, you bring proven engineering leadership experience as well as practical infrastructure knowledge. You have the ability to support and grow individual engineers, and sufficient technical experience to partner well with individuals as well as carry out peer testing & validation. You are excited by the opportunity to provide leadership across the organization to help influence and drive data science initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

 - Delving into and analyzing new data to discover patterns and trends
- Creating and optimising statistical/machine learning models
- Designing and deploying models to innovate solutions to business problems  
- Partner with data & ML engineers to ensure data access for discovery and proper data is prepared for model consumption.
- Set KPIs and metrics to evaluate ML solutions given a particular use case.
- Translate business requirements into modelling problems.
- Influence product teams through data-based recommendations.
- Lead, inspire, and influence your team to embrace modern Data Science practices and keep up with latest industry trends 
- Drive the use of the Data Science toolset and lead demonstrations to the business as needed
- Collaborate with other managers in Engineering, Product and Strategy teams to ensure we are building products that provide a consistent and powerful experience across our platforms 
- Have visibility, influence, and impact across all of Optimizely’s engineering teams and product areas 

Knowledge and Experience

- 5+ years working in a team to deliver production level analytic solutions. Fluent in git (version control).
- 5+ years’ experience in ETL and/or data wrangling techniques. Fluent in SQL syntaxis.
- 5+ years’ experience in Statistical/ML techniques to solve supervised (regression, classification) and unsupervised problems.
- 5+ years’ experience in developing business problem related statistical/ML modeling with industry tools
- Business storytelling and communicating data insights in business consumable format. Fluent in one Visualization tool. 
- Experience managing, delivering, and owning Data Science related projects end-to-end
- Solid organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep multiple projects on schedule
- Demonstrated track record engaging and collaborating across distributed teams
- Experience with Machine Learning and Deep Learning
- ability to improve Data Literacy across larger organizations
- Experience working alongside Data Analytics tools, programs and initiatives

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
