Introduction

Optimizely is seeking a dynamic and motivated Product Manager to join our Platform team. As a Product Manager, you will play a crucial role as an individual contributor, shaping and  driving the success of a defined SaaS product area. 

 

The Platform includes Common Admin/User Management, Common Identity (OptiID), Provisioning, Optimizely Data Platform (ODP), Optimizely Connect Platform for integrations (OCP), Reporting, Content Recommendations, Product Recommendations, and Data Science. We also cover infrastructure, security, compliance, and disaster recovery (DR) work across the Optimizely product suite. This role is intended to support infrastructure, security and compliance across our Platform products as well as other Optimizely products. You have or will develop a thorough understanding of the requirements for compliance certifications including SOC2 and GDPR. You will also support our data and integrations teams with customer support triaging and be a liaison to our Support and other technical teams.  

 

You will contribute to the creation of product requirements and collaborate with Engineering, as well as Security and Compliance teams to ensure they can then deliver high-quality and compliant products that meet customer needs in an agile/scrum environment. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of SaaS product experience, project management skills (being able to coordinate multiple stakeholders, action items, and deadlines), excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. We are seeking someone who is humble, collaborative, and highly team oriented.

Job Responsibilities

In this role, the PM will work closely with Optimizely's Compliance, Security, IT, Product, and Engineering teams to:

 

  • Ensure they have the requirements for compliance, security, and DR
  • Ensure they implement any necessary changes to get to or maintain compliance
  • Track the overall project plan
  • Motivate stakeholders to deliver against commits and deadlines, providing required context, clearly communicating the value prop, setting timelines, and reporting to leadership
  • Regularly communicate priorities and updates on progress to stakeholders
  • Gather direct feedback from users and stakeholders and leverage multiple tools to collate and prioritize requests to improve our products
  • Learn and practice prioritization principles that inform consistent, data-driven decision-making
  • Demonstrate general (not expert level) technical expertise, including understanding APIs and estimating the timing of complex technical projects and tasks in partnership with Engineering
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, events, and channels
  • Contribute to Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) with early inputs from Engineering and other internal partners where applicable
  • In partnership with Engineering, manage the Platform product backlog for infrastructure, compliance, and security work.
  • Connect company objectives to the team’s work by defining measures to track impact (quantifiable key results / OKRs) in partnership with leadership and senior PMs
  • Seek coaching and support from leadership to handle conflict and difficult conversations
  • Use good judgment on when to escalate vs. inform leaders and stakeholders of issues
  • Be a visible internal and external spokesperson for the product initiatives including presentations, demos, and customer calls
  • Nurture a culture of inclusion and empathy
  • Give and receive candid feedback
  • Accept mentorship and guidance from more senior team members who share knowledge and best practices across the team
  • Flexibility in working hours is essential for this role, as it involves collaboration with global teams and stakeholders

Knowledge and Experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in SaaS product management
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English
  • Ability to build relationships and work cross-functionally
  • Adaptability to changes in priority.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in critical thinking and analysis.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority 

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred
