Introduction

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer for one of our core CMS product teams, to help us shape the future experiences of Optimizely’s products and offerings. These are exciting times: We’re at the top of industry analyst ratings for CMS and we are making waves in the industry with our Opal AI. Our engineers are excited to take the product they love and have been working on for many years to the next level. And here is your opportunity to join them, as we are expanding these teams.

Optimizely is an AI-first company, not only in our advanced position delivering AI solutions to the market, but also in how we adopt tools in our day to day. As a software engineer, tools like Claude Code and Github Copilot are a natural part of your workflow, and you continuously strive to increase productivity by leveraging these tools.

There are opportunities regardless of if you have a more back-end or a more front-end focused profile, but with .NET as the base. You would be joining a group of teams with many very senior engineers with diverse skills, so personal and cultural fit will be a key differentiator alongside skills and experience.

As a Senior Software Engineer you are a subject matter expert with high level of proficiency in your technical area. You use your skills and experience to mentor others and to make thoughtful technical tradeoff decisions. We value building robust solutions that can live on and evolve over many years, while always prioritizing spending our time on what provides the most value possible to our customers.

You are self-motivated and like to collaborate with your colleagues to find the best solution that solves the problem, considering architecture, cost of development and cost of ownership. You are motivated by building the best solutions for both end users and other developers. You are comfortable with working in a fast-moving agile environment and working closely with User Experience Designers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders. You take full ownership of the services and are prepared to jump in and work directly with customers to address escalations and incidents.

The CMS teams are centered in Europe but distributed over multiple regions. While this is one of few CMS product team specific position in Optimizely Dhaka so far, you will have many other engineers working in adjacent areas around you.

Job Responsibilities

As Senior Software Engineer you will

  • Design, implement and document simple, secure, scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective software solutions.
  • Ensure product quality by developing and applying thorough automated testing techniques.
  • Contribute to architecture and design discussions within your agile team as well as across teams and products.
  • Contribute to project planning including requirements elicitation, design, task refinement and scoping.
  • Manage incidents as well as escalations from partners and customers.
  • Mentor and share with other engineers and team members.
  • Pursue growth by maintaining an awareness of the state of technology, engineering techniques, and best practices.
  • Work hours are 10:00 AM–6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, and candidates are expected to be flexible with occasional late calls to support EMEA/US teams.

Knowledge and Experience

About you

  • You have at least 5-7 years of experience working professionally with modern development practices.
  • You are strong in software design and engineering concepts, including but not limited to object-oriented analysis, design, and programming.
  • You are approaching expert level knowledge of C# and the .NET development platform, ASP.NET and/or front-end Javascript/Typescript and technologies like React.
  • You are a real team player who enjoys solving problems together, and a great communicator.
  • You have an understanding and interest in building and maintaining large applications as well as extensible libraries/frameworks/APIs.
  • You have an AI first mentality and use AI tools such as Claude Code or Github copilot as a natural part of your toolbox.
  • Ideally you have significant experience designing and building large, modular, applications with continuous releases that quickly adapt to user needs.

Experiences with the following technologies are also advantageous:

  • Designing and building solutions based on Optimizely CMS or other CMS/DXP platforms
  • Designing and building API:s (GraphQL, REST) as a supported product (not just for a specific web application project).
  • Designing and building SDK:s, officially supported samples and writing developer documentation.
  • Modern front-end build pipelines and tools.
  • Building, maintaining and supporting a SaaS service at scale

Education

You have at least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar, or corresponding level of relevant education.
