Senior Software Engineer

This position is dedicated to the engineering and advancement of Optimizely Campaign, our premier, enterprise-grade omnichannel marketing automation platform. Optimizely Campaign is a mature, high-performing solution that empowers businesses to design, orchestrate, and analyze highly personalized marketing campaigns across a diverse range of channels - including email, SMS/RCS, mobile and web push, WhatsApp, and print. By leveraging real-time customer data, advanced segmentation, and built-in AI agents, the platform automates complex, multi-step customer journeys and optimizes message delivery timing. 

To support this product, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who functions as a subject matter expert with technical mastery in their domain. In this role, you will consistently manage and deliver high-quality, timely releases that address complex, end-to-end problems within an agile team. Leveraging your deep technical expertise, you will make thoughtful architecture and tradeoff decisions, mentor junior engineers, and proactively communicate technical designs across various engineering forums. Additionally, you will own the operational excellence of your services, assume progressive leadership roles on technical and cultural initiatives, and actively contribute to the company's hiring, retention, and diversity efforts. 

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (12 PM to 8 PM), Hybrid

As a hands-on member of our high-performing, cross-functional agile development team (one of the Berlin-based teams), your primary responsibilities will include: 

Product Development & Maintenance: Active, hands-on contribution to the development, scaling, and maintenance of the Optimizely Campaign platform, ensuring robust performance and reliability. 

Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Guiding junior engineers, conducting rigorous code reviews, and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented engineering culture. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering closely with product managers, UX designers, and fellow engineers within an agile framework to refine requirements and deliver seamless end-to-end features. 

Operational Ownership: Monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuously optimizing the performance and security of our core services and components. 

In this role you will: 

-Develop features for substantial parts of a highly reliable, scalable and performant omni-channel marketing platform sending billions of personalized messages a month. 

-Design, implement and run highly scalable data-driven services that ingest, deduplicate, count, aggregate, store, archive, transfer, process and visualize a huge amount of data.  

-Communicate requirements as well as technical challenges and decisions to multiple stakeholders. 

-Drive continuous improvements to the usability, reliability, performance and security of our product.  

-Conduct high-quality code reviews. 

-Leverage continuous integration processes and software deployments within responsibility of the team
