Introduction

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Product Design Manager to lead our Platform design team in Hanoi, Vietnam. As the regional design leader, you will not only manage the designers working on Platform—our pillar that spans customer experiences, internal tools, and data infrastructure—but also serve as the primary manager and mentor for all designers in the APAC time zone. This is a high- impact, high-visibility M3-level role. You’ll balance hands-on design leadership with people management, operational excellence, and cross-functional influence. You'll collaborate with senior partners across Product, Engineering, and Design Ops to drive strategic alignment and deliver high-quality, scalable experiences. You will report into our Director of Product Design and be a vital part of shaping the next chapter of the Platform pillar.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of talented product designers focused on the Platform pillar, ensuring a high bar for quality, creativity, and usability.
  • Serve as the regional design manager for APAC, mentoring and supporting designers across other product areas in Hanoi office.
  • Drive product and design strategy for key Platform initiatives, in close partnership with Product and Engineering leads.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for your team and help them grow through regular feedback, career conversations, and performance reviews.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive team culture that reflects Optimizely’s values and encourages bold thinking and collaboration.
  • Ensure a high level of craft and consistency across deliverables—from early concepts to final designs.
  • Work closely with Design Systems and Research teams to ensure cohesive experiences and informed decision-making.
  • Act as a key design voice in quarterly and annual planning processes, helping shape the roadmap and prioritization of work.
  • Establish rituals and frameworks that scale design impact across time zones and cross-functional teams.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in product design, with at least 2+ years leading and managing designers.
  • A portfolio of shipped products showcasing strong interaction, visual, and product thinking.
  • Proven track record of building, coaching, and retaining high-performing design teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across disciplines and seniority levels.
  • Deep experience designing for SaaS platforms or complex systems.
  • Strong systems thinking—you can connect the dots across surfaces and experiences.
  • Ability to zoom in on the pixel and zoom out to product strategy in a single conversation.
  • Experience working with distributed or global teams and adapting communication and leadership styles accordingly.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, a bias for action, and a love for solving complex, messy problems.
  • Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with agile workflows and design operations.
