Introduction

 

Optimizely is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead a team of experienced engineers in the development of services critical to it. At Optimizely, Staff Software Engineers are technical leaders with a broad impact on large software challenges, across multiple product lines, and over extended time horizons. They deliver great products, enable their colleagues, and champion engineering excellence.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Lead an engineering team in the development of high-quality, maintainable, and scalable search services

  • Coordinate and guide a team in the design, development, deployment, and operation of the service that enables Optimizely's ability to enhance customer experience

  • Collaborate within and across departments to clear roadblocks, facilitate progress, and enable team to deliver on their commitments

  • Make high-judgment decisions around technology and strategy

  • Champion engineering excellence and continuously drive software engineering development lifecycle improvements in your team as well as cross-team

  • Take ownership of the quality of the product as well as the responsibility to coach and mentor other members of the team.

Knowledge and Experience

 

  • You have 7+ years of experience in the development of scalable, production services, backend development
  • You have strong experience with Azure Cloud Computing platform and understanding of scaling and reliability concerns
  • You have 3+ years of experience leading teams from conception to delivery of services
  • You have experience designing services and APIs with concern for performance, availability, observability
  • You ascribe to DevOps principles regarding delivery performance, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • You maintain an awareness of the state of technology, tools, and techniques
  • You model servant leadership, collaborate constructively with both technical and non-technical colleagues, and effectively articulate plans.

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science or engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience
