Introduction
We’re looking for a seasoned Principal Product Manager to lead two critical engineering domains in our CMS product: Delivery and Graph. The Delivery team builds and maintains the APIs, SDKs, rendering infrastructure, and implementation tooling that power how content is delivered from our CMS to front-end experiences. The Graph team owns our Optimizely Graph product, built on GraphQL, enabling performant and composable content delivery and search across the Optimizely suite.
We are looking for a technical, detail-oriented product leader who thrives in complex systems, understands the developer and implementer persona deeply, and has experience with front-end frameworks, GraphQL, and API design. This role is central to how Optimizely CMS is adopted and extended by customers and partners across the globe.
Job Responsibilities
- Product Development: Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation through to launch. Prioritize features and enhancements based on user feedback, market trends, and business impact. Ensure the platform meets the needs of both internal and external stakeholders. Create and maintain roadmaps, write Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), and set a predictable cadence for delivery.
- Strategy & Vision: Drive forward our GraphQL-based content delivery and search infrastructure. Understand content modeling, query performance, and integration challenges in composable architectures. Develop a clear and compelling vision for future of search, content delivery and rendering.
- Customer Obsession: Act as the voice of the implementer. Work closely with customers, partners, and internal developers to deeply understand the needs of frontend teams building websites with Optimizely. Build world-class developer experiences by improving SDKs, APIs, CLI tools, and documentation. Own the tooling and patterns used by partners and customers during implementation.
- Collaboration & Communication: Partner tightly with engineering, support, documentation, and GTM teams. Provide clear product requirements and articulate trade-offs at every stage.
- Analytics & Adoption: Implement and maintain product analytics (we use Mixpanel) and build comprehensive reporting that enables monitoring and improving feature adoption.
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience: 3-5 years of product management experience, with at least 1 year in a developer focused product. Preferably within the martech or SaaS industry.
- Technical Fluency: Comfortable discussing architecture, GraphQL schemas, HTTP caching, and React-based tooling with engineers. Experience with front-end technologies and modern implementation frameworks is a strong plus.
- Customer Orientation: Deep empathy for developers and implementers. You’ve worked closely with implementation partners or services teams and know what great enablement looks like.
- Strategic Thinker: Able to prioritize long-term bets alongside short-term customer needs. Experienced at managing technical debt while delivering net new value.
- Influence & Autonomy: Proven ability to lead without authority and to collaborate cross-functionally at scale.
- Communication Excellence: Skilled at writing clear and concise documentation, PRDs, and release notes. Comfortable presenting to customers and internal stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with CMS platforms and headless architectures
- Hands-on experience with GraphQL or content modeling
- Background in building and implementing websites
