About The Role

As a Senior Technical Product Manager, you will own the technical strategic roadmap for Optimizely’s core commerce platforms, ensuring its long-term stability and scalability to meet the demanding technical needs of our implementation partners and enterprise customers. This role requires deep collaboration with engineering and architecture teams to define and prioritize platform enhancements, infrastructure upgrades, architectural evolutions, and developer-first solutions. You will translate complex Enterprise requirements into actionable technical specifications, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks to platform performance and reliability. Ultimately, you will drive the execution of this roadmap, ensuring our platform evolves to consistently exceed the expectations of our premier implementation partners and largest and most critical clients.

We are looking for a technical, detail-oriented product leader who thrives in complex systems, understands the developer and implementer persona deeply, and has experience with technology patterns available via Azure, GCP, Kubernetes and containers. This role is central to how Optimizely’s Commerce products are implemented, adopted and extended by customers and partners across the globe.

Competencies

  • Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of software architecture, cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and system scalability and performanc3 principles. Ability to engage in technical discussions with engineering teams and technical partner or client representatives and understand the implications of architectural decisions.
  • Customer Empathy: Strong ability to understand the unique technical challenges, security requirements, and performance expectations of all customers, including large Enterprise organizations. Experience in translating their needs into robust and scalable platform solutions.
  • Strategic Thinking & Roadmapping: Proven ability to develop and articulate a long-term technical vision and translate it into a clear, prioritized roadmap. Ability to anticipate future technical challenges and opportunities. Ability to clearly justify key decisions and defend prioritization decisions.
  • Influence & Autonomy: Proven ability to lead without authority and to collaborate with developers cross-functionally and at scale.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with engineering, architecture, implementation partners, technical and business customer representatives, sales, and customer success teams. Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to identify root causes of technical issues, assess trade-offs, and make data-driven decisions regarding platform investments. Ability to anticipate potential bottlenecks and proactively address them.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks related to platform stability and scalability. Experience in developing contingency plans and ensuring business continuity.
  • Domain Knowledge (Optional but beneficial): While not strictly required, prior experience with the implementation process of an e-commerce or content-focused platform is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Product Development: Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation through to launch. Prioritize features and enhancements based on user feedback, market trends, and business impact. Ensure the platform meets the needs of both internal and external stakeholders. Create and maintain roadmaps, write Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), and set a predictable cadence for delivery.
  • Strategy & Vision: Drive forward our roadmap for our enterprise clients. Understand how cloud infrastructure can be built in a scalable, performant, and composable way. Develop a clear and compelling vision for future of our products, with a focus on stability, scalability, and developer-first features.
  • Customer and Partner Obsession: Act as the voice of the implementer. Work closely with customers, partners, and internal developers to deeply understand the needs of development teams building e-commerce experiences with our products. Build world-class developer experiences by improving SDKs, APIs, CLI tools, and documentation. Own the tooling and patterns used by partners and customers during implementation.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Partner tightly with engineering, support, documentation, and GTM teams. Provide clear product requirements and articulate trade-offs at every stage.
  • Analytics & Adoption: Implement and maintain product analytics to track feature usage and adoption (we use Mixpanel) and build comprehensive reporting that enables monitoring and improving feature adoption.
