Introduction
As Director of Product on our Experimentation team, you will drive business results across a broad product area, with an impact that extends beyond product to influence the entire business. Recognized company-wide as an authority on experimentation, you bring deep experience in developing complex products and are a sought-after leader in your field. You excel at identifying key metrics and leading your team to consistently meet or exceed goals, advancing the organization's global brand and industry position through innovative, technology-forward solutions. With full ownership of the vision and roadmap for your assigned product areas, including multi-year initiatives, you will independently lead decisions and oversee the development of our most complex technologies and cross-functional initiatives. In this role, you will also directly manage a team of 4+ Product Managers, providing clear objectives, constructive feedback, and individualized growth paths to drive excellence across your team.
Job Responsibilities
Influence Strategy & Roadmap:
- Relies on broad product experience and analogs to guide decision-making in ambiguous situations, often handling the most complex projects and products.
- Significantly contributes to setting strategic direction.
- Expertly translates broad company strategies into specific priorities and objectives for their team.
- Effectively leads team(s) to execute against the strategy.
- Actively monitors for needed adjustments to strategy and raises them as necessary.
Deliver Products and Drive Usage:
- Holds self, direct reports, and collaborating teams accountable for delivering substantial impact on departmental and business performance.
- Takes ownership of execution, defining structures and processes the team and organization need to achieve desired outcomes.
Collaborate and Communicate:
- Consistently trusted to prepare and deliver clear, credible, impactful, and engaging written communication and presentations, adapting detail level based on the audience, such as executive highlights versus detailed updates for other stakeholders.
- Expertly navigates ambiguous situations, leading collaborative discussions and driving rapid decisions.
- Serves as a thought leader with an external presence, representing the product as an expert in publications or at events.
- Communicates a compelling vision and sense of purpose for both current and long-term product direction and its impact on the company.
- Regularly engages with senior management and executives.
- Recognized as a key influencer across the company, capable of explaining complex topics with appropriate depth for each audience.

Knowledge and Experience
- Around 7+ years of product experience, or 5+ years of product experience with extensive familiarity with Optimizely, either as an internal transfer or as a customer.
- 4-7+ years of experience managing a team of product ICs.
- Drives continuous improvement in product management practices at Optimizely, setting a high standard for excellence.
- Consistently takes on work that extends beyond core responsibilities.
- Plays a critical role in ensuring that Product Development meets strategic corporate milestones efficiently and effectively, adeptly managing even the most complex products and workstreams
- Market Awareness: Develops plans to target and win with Ideal Customer Profiles (ICP) in a competitive landscape; relied on for market insights across the organization.
- Business Expertise: Has expert business knowledge and provides a nuanced perspective on product success within the business, sharing insights with teams and leadership.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Leads initiatives and makes informed prioritization decisions among proposed initiatives, coaching others on effective leadership. Understands the broader organizational landscape and brings in teams or resources for cross-functional initiatives that may not have been previously identified.
- Metrics and Data: Leverages data beyond the product area, including cross-Optimizely and market data, to make informed decisions on the long-term roadmap and adjust strategy to meet shifting demands and competitive realities.
Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
