Introduction

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Digital Experience, the Visual Designer will help shape and evolve the visual experience of Optimizely.com. In this role, you'll blend visual design, systems thinking, and digital execution to create engaging, user-centered experiences that elevate our brand and support business goals. 

You'll be responsible for designing and maintaining scalable web experiences, expanding our design system, and building reusable website components within Optimizely's Visual Builder. Working closely with marketing, content, product marketing, UX, and development teams, you'll ensure our website remains visually compelling, consistent, and easy to maintain. 

This is a fully remote position with flexible working options. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Own the visual design of Optimizely.com, ensuring a polished, consistent, and engaging experience across the site. 
  • Maintain, evolve, and expand the Optimizely web design system, creating reusable patterns and components that scale across teams. 
  • Audit existing pages to identify opportunities to improve visual consistency, usability, accessibility, and brand adherence. 
  • Design and build reusable website components in Optimizely Visual Builder, enabling marketers to create high-quality pages efficiently. 
  • Create page layouts and landing pages that balance aesthetics, usability, performance, and conversion goals. 
  • Partner with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and efficiently. 
  • Collaborate with content strategists, campaign managers, and product marketers to translate business objectives into compelling digital experiences. 
  • Ensure designs meet accessibility (WCAG) and responsive design best practices. 
  • Contribute to ongoing optimization by incorporating user feedback, analytics, and A/B testing insights into future designs. 
  • Help establish and document web design standards, guidelines, and best practices. 

Knowledge and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in web, visual, or digital design. 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating modern web design, landing pages, and component-based design systems. 
  • Proficiency in Figma and collaborative design workflows. 
  • Experience working within and expanding design systems. 
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and UX best practices. 
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers and marketers. 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to balance creativity and consistency. 

 

Additional skills and preferences 

  • Experience creating marketing graphics, campaign assets, and illustrative graphics. 
  • Experience designing product visuals, diagrams, or feature illustrations. 
  • Motion graphics or animation experience (After Effects, Lottie, Rive, or similar). 
  • Familiarity with Optimizely CMS and Visual Builder, or other enterprise CMS platforms. 
  • Understanding of HTML/CSS and how designs translate into front-end development. 
  • Experience supporting experimentation and conversion rate optimization initiatives. 

Education

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Interaction Design, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)

Total Target Compensation range: $74,000-$137,000

Optimizely considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
